Happy Hammocks, Weligama Beach

PLEASE READ OUR DESCRIPTION BELOW!!!
We have two 4 bed FAN dorms which have individual fans for each bed. All the other dorms are AC dorms. Each dorm has an ensuite bathroom. If you are staying elsewhere or are not able to find room with us, you are more than welcome to still join us for our daily activities. We are a social but not a party hostel with an inclusive environment, busy communal area and in-house cafe (open during the season). You may give us a pass if you prioritize modern facilities in a stay over a friendly, social atmosphere. That being said, Welcome to Happy Hammocks! We offer more than just a bed - think of us as a sharehouse by the beach, where every guest feels like part of a close-knit community. Whether you’re here to ride the famous Weligama waves, chill in the tropical sun, or meet incredible people, we’ve got you covered.

We can also help you with scooter rentals, surf lessons, taxis, safari and all kinds of tours and excursions at a cheaper price than if you try and find yourself. Please reach out to the reception for the details.

- Location, Location, Location! We’re perfectly situated just steps from the beach, the main town and the bus station, making it the ideal base for surfers of all levels. If you’re new to surfing, no worries – we can help arrange lessons and rentals to help you hit the water with confidence.
- A Social Hub: Our hostel is all about the community vibe and is rated highly because of the friendly, welcoming atmosphere we’ve built. We organize daily activities like beach volleyball, sunset sessions, movie nights and beer pong tournaments. Plus, our family dinners are legendary, and we are always up for pre-drinks on the party nights
- Well-Equipped Rooms: Our dorms are designed with convenience in mind. Each bed comes with blackout curtains, international sockets, private fan, reading lights, and there’s strong, free Wi-Fi throughout the hostel to keep you connected.
- Comfort & Cleanliness: While we try and keep things spotless and have recently updated our facilities with new AC units and renovated washrooms, it’s our strong sense of community and sync with the laid-back island life that keeps guests coming back – not the amenities.

What Else? We’re not just about the hostel life. We also run unique initiatives like feeding local street dogs and beach cleanups. For those asking – our beloved hostel dog has found a new, loving home!

P.S. If you arrive early, we do have a separate common area for you to nap in until your room is ready and common washroom with shower you can use before check in.

Heads Up: December 23rd - Jan 2nd is our peak season. To lock in your stay, we ask for a deposit during this time.

***Property Policies & Conditions:
1. Check in is 2:00 pm and check out is 11:00 am.
2. Payment: Cash only upon arrival.
3. Cancellation Policy: At least 3 day (72 hours) in advance notice before the arrival date is required.
4. No show policy: In case of no show will be charged full price for your whole stay
5. The reception desk 9am till 8pm
- If you are arriving later, just give us a heads up
- If you need to check out earlier, please contact the front desk in advance.
6. No smoking in the in our rooms, kitchen or hall (please use on of the outdoor common areas).
7. Happy hammocks is a YOUTH hostel and is not suitable for children, the elderly, or pets.
8. Towels are available at check-in without any charge
9. There is a 500 LKR key deposit required
10. Air Conditioning is turned on from 6:00 pm to 11:00am
11. Only one person per bed allowed. No sharing!
12. No outsiders allowed indoors.
13. Please use your allocated bed only or you will be charged a cleaning fee
14. We are a solo traveler focused hostel and do not allow groups of more than 3 people and this is strictly enforced at check-in (please do not make 2 bookings)
