About

Palm Hostel is a converted traditional riad—basically a house where families once lived together, each with their own room but sharing everything else. The bathrooms, showers, kitchen, and courtyard are all shared, and that same feeling is still here. It’s simple, a bit rough around the edges, but real in a way that’s easy to settle into—like a small oasis you come back to after the day.

We’re in a residential neighborhood, away from the busy center, so things feel calmer here. It’s a quiet, social kind of place—people hanging out, talking, cooking, and slowly finding their rhythm. Most guests are coming from outside Morocco and are still new to it, so everyone kind of figures things out together, at their own pace.

Right outside, you’ll find the kind of places locals actually use—small restaurants, a little night market in the evenings, and fruit and vegetable stalls near the neighborhood mosque. It’s everyday Marrakech, not something set up for visitors. And when you feel like exploring more, it’s about a 20-minute walk to the entrance of the souks, where you can begin to explore deeper into the central medina.

It’s not fancy, and it’s not meant to be. But if you’re looking for something honest, relaxed, and a bit like home—a calm place to land in the middle of it all—it usually just works.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We arrived and immediately noticed a terrible smell in the room, like human faeces. The property also felt like an unfinished construction site and we instantly knew we could not stay there. We returned to reception to request a refund, but they refused. The staff member began arguing with us about the refund and even brought his friends over, which felt intimidating and aggressive. The surrounding area also felt unsafe. This was a deeply uncomfortable and upsetting experience.
