The Katoomba Mountain Lodge is an independent low budget accommodation service in the heart of the Blue Mountains. We are a cozy and relaxed place that caters primarily for international backpackers, families and couples.

The lodge is one of the oldest heritage buildings in Katoomba. The building was originally created as a primary school, subsequently transformed into a nursing home and at the end of 1970s refashioned into the guesthouse of today.

We have free WiFi, an updated tourist information board with current events and stuff happening in town, a jobs board, two warm lounge rooms with a wide selection of DVDs and TV channels, great hot showers, a tranquil & relaxing reading room and a sunny terrace with two spacious outdoor decks.

Our kitchen is fully equipped to prepare your meals and we also provide free coffee and tea. There is a vegetable bed in our garden where our guests can pick fresh herbs for their dishes and we also have interesting cook books in our kitchen if you are looking for inspiration or wanting to get creative.

Our reception is open daily between 10am to 7 pm. If you are checking-in after 7, please give us a call and we can happily arrange a late check-in for you.

i’ve stayed in 50+ hostels and this was by far the worst. i was in a female dorm and the both of the other occupants were full time residents - they were keeping food, plants, and all their possessions in the room. there wasn’t even room to get to my bed. additionally there was many old men who were staying/living there, and i found it uncomfortable when trying to use the common spaces. numerous times they were consuming alcohol before 10am. the kitchen and bathrooms were extremely dirty.

Hair in all the bathrooms and plug holes, even in the private room sink. The room we booked hadn't been vaccumed properly or dusted in a while. The whole place smelled dirty. No proper bag storage at the property, not ideal if you want to go walking without your valuables. Never actually met the receptionist - out keys were left in the check out box in an envelope and we weren't checking in out of hours. The whole place had a halfway house vibe.

Do not stay here if you are a solo female traveller especially. Lots of strange men around, I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable from the minute I arrived. Showers were filthy.
