IKIRU is a family-run place to live in Surabaya in an Indonesian 'kost' or 'guest house' or 'home stay' or 'hostel' or 'petit hotel' style, opened in May 2012.

Located in residential area in the city center, it provides quiet but convenient stay. Nearby shops, restaurants and cafes, make it convenient to have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

5-minute walk from local traditional market Pasar Krukah, popular local supermarket Bilka and popular discount bookshop Uranus, 20-minute drive from Gubeng Railway Station, popular shopping malls like Tunjungan Plaza and Galaxy Mall and 50-minute drive from Surabaya Juanda International Airport.

Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the property for guess to catch up with friends and family and get information over the internet.
Our breakfast has good review and parking space is free upon availability.

Our shared room (dormitory) is only 3 beds and not a bunk bed.
Communal dining space with common refrigerator is available for guests.
We also try to provide tea, coffee, also TV and book library.

We can provide also information on travel and transportation to Mount Bromo, Mount Ijen, and other places, as well as transportation to other part of Surabaya.

We only stayed for around 6 hours before our midnight pickup for Mount Bromo, but Ikiru to Live was exactly what we needed. Yuvi was incredibly friendly and welcoming, showed us to our room promptly, and made check-in very easy despite our short stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for getting some much-needed sleep before our early start. Everything was smooth and hassle-free. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stopover before a Mount Bromo tour.

Scratch beneath the bustling surface of the working port town of Surabaya and you'll uncover a myriad of charms. It's home to one of Indonesia’s largest Chinatowns and an Arab Quarter filled with narrow, twisting laneways. Dotted around the city are old Dutch buildings and market stalls selling food and trinkets. Away from the buzzing centre, Surabaya's beaches are relaxing places to unwind at the end of a long day. Trekkers can explore the region's active volcanoes and rugged inland mountains.

At hostels in Surabaya you can expect air con, free Wi-Fi and social spaces like common rooms, as well as outdoor terraces where you can mingle with other travellers. The city is filled with markets and monuments, but one of the top things to do in Surabaya is eat. Dine at the food stalls or upscale restaurants of G-Walk in CitraLand and stop by Genteng market – a foodie haven at night – where vendors serve their own specialties like spicy soups and nasi goreng (fried rice). Out of the city, there's the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park to explore. Hike around the active Mount Bromo volcano, cycle across the Tengger mountain range and see the gushing Madakaripura Waterfall.

Surabaya Juanda International Airport is a 45-minute taxi drive from the centre of Surabaya. There are no direct buses to the city, but you can jump on a bus to Purabaya Bus Station (13km south of the city) then change to a bus headed for the centre or the Gubeng train station. There's a good network of buses, making them the easiest way to move around in the city, or you can hop in a taxi that has air con.
