Painted Turtle Guesthouse

Painted Turtle Guesthouse in Nanaimo offers free Wi-Fi and an on-site launderette. Located 4 km from Departure Bay Ferry Terminal, the guesthouse features simply furnished rooms with shared bathrooms and complimentary linens, towels, and fans. Guests can use a communal kitchen, enjoy the various cash-concession items available at the front desk, and receive complimentary temporary luggage storage on the day of check out.

The local cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, street art, farmers markets, street performers and colourful buildings of the Old City Quarter create the charm of downtown. The public library, two convention centres and the Port Theatre are all within a moment's walking distance.

The gorgeous seawall walkway is only a block and a half away, providing a great place to go for a stroll, and enjoy the views of the harbour, including the glorious mountains across the Salish Sea. The waterfront area also has a swimming lagoon, crabbing opportunities, local artisans, delicious ice cream, and access to Newcastle Island for camping & day hikes. Whale watching tours are accessible from Cowichan Bay, a 55-minute drive away.

There is so much to see and do in and around Nanaimo that it's no wonder we are often referred to as Hub City!

Valid Government-Issued Photo ID: All guests must present the valid government-issued ID upon check-in.

Minimum Age: All guests must be 18 years of age.

Stay Deposit: All guests must provide a credit card in their name for a $100 preauthorization or pay a $100 stay deposit (cash or debit) upon arrival. The preauthorization hold will be released before 4:00 PM on the check-out date, pending to a successful room inspection.

Cards Accepted: Mastercard, Visa, Debit

Reception Hours: Opens 10 am to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 8pm. If you arrive before check-in time, we’d be happy to store your luggage while you explore the city.

Standard Check-in time: 4pm to 8pm. If you plan to arrive after 8 pm, please call to arrange a time with us. Our night-care will be on-site to assist you.

Check-Out time: 11 am. Please drop your keys in front of the desk. Failing to return the key could result in a $25 charge.

Late Check-In Fee: Guests arriving after 12:00 AM will be subject to a $10.00 late check-in fee.

Storage: Available for large luggage and daytime use before and after checking out.

Bike Storage: Available upon requests.

Parking: Bastion Street Parkade, located right across from us. Parking is free from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next morning. On weekends, it is free from 5:00 PM on Fridays until Monday at 8:00 AM.
