Then the weekend lands, and East Side becomes what it’s famous for: home of the legendary Mad Monkey courtyard parties, the nights that pull in guests from across all our Sydney properties. Best of both worlds, genuinely. You can have a quiet week of exploring Sydney, recover properly, and still be at the centre of the biggest backpacker nights in Kings Cross when Saturday comes around. The courtyard does double duty - sunny chill spot by day, party centrepiece on the weekend. Every morning starts the same way regardless: free barista coffee at the Happy Travels shop. A real coffee, made by a real barista, included in your stay. Rooms are built for recovery - spacious and comfortable, in mixed and female-only dorm options, with a power point and bed light at every bed for late-night charging and early-morning scrolling. The location is classic Kings Cross: bars, cafes, and restaurants on every corner, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge within walking distance, Rushcutters Bay Park down the road for harbour-view recovery days, and Kings Cross train station 2 minutes away. Reception is open 8am-8pm. Checking in later? Give us a call beforehand and our night manager will look after you. Check-in from 2pm, check-out by 10am. Free luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out. We’re a strictly 18+ property - dorm rooms are recommended for guests aged 18-35. A valid physical passport is required at check-in (photocopies not accepted). Your card is charged one day before arrival - please ensure sufficient funds to avoid cancellation. Group bookings of 4+ guests are subject to separate terms and we can’t guarantee the same room for the whole group. No e-bike batteries on the premises.
