Buddha Guesthouse Kuchi-kumano in Tanabe Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes is a cosy spot with a very friendly and helpful host. Its location is excellent, close to the station and restaurants, making it a great start or end point for the Kumano Kodo trail. Guests appreciated the cleanliness and the useful shoe-drying machine after hiking.

Not my favourite place in Japan. Would recommend you get out of tanabe on bus and start the komano Kodo trail and stay on route rather than here.
