HI Abrantes – Pousada de Juventude

All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the place is overall very peaceful. There was a terrace with a beautiful view and it's located close to the castle(which has beautiful Gardens and an amazing view) and some shops/cafes. It was great value for money and I really enjoyed my stay. The only ruing I would say is that it is a 30 minute walk from the train station which feels like a bit of a trek going uphill, but it's well worth it to be near the centre.

Don't expect anything fancy at Abrantes or its HI. This building looks and feels very much like an old soviet vacation compound. Kind of like a prison. The staff however are always available 24 hours, very friendly and keep the place very clean. It has all the most basic amenities for a hostel such as a kitchen, terrace, etc. The location is also a bit far from the center of town but not too bad. Booking this, you are getting what you pay for, but it is enough and great for meeting locals.

I really enjoyed my stay and the personal was very helpful. I stayed in the off season so there were no other people at the hostel, so the atmosphere was for that reason not in top.
