About

Life’s a Beach is a family-run beachfront hostel and homestay near Quy Nhon, Vietnam, created by Gavin, Steve and their family in 2014. Located on a quiet hillside surrounded by jungle and rocks, overlooking a peaceful beach, it offers a relaxed and welcoming escape from the busy pace of Vietnam’s cities.
We welcome travellers of all ages and backgrounds including backpackers, couples, solo travellers, digital nomads, families and long-term travellers. Life’s a Beach is known for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere where guests can easily meet people from around the world, while still enjoying privacy, peace and personal space when they want it.
Our focus is on creating a social environment rather than a party hostel atmosphere. We organise optional communal dinners, games, activities and events each day to help guests connect naturally, but there is never any pressure to join. Many guests come to relax, work remotely, explore the local area or simply enjoy the beach and nature at their own pace.
Accommodation options are spread amongst the trees and gardens and include dorm rooms, glamping tents, rustic bamboo huts and private beachfront bungalows with balconies and sea views. Rooms are simple, comfortable and designed for a relaxed beach lifestyle, with reliable Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, hot showers, towels and unlimited drinking water.
Days at Life’s a Beach are usually spent swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, exploring local fishing villages, relaxing in a hammock or enjoying the quiet beach. Guests can also arrange activities including snorkeling, fishing trips, boat tours, cooking classes and motorbike rental.
In the evenings, our beachfront bar and restaurant become a relaxed social space where travellers can share stories, enjoy food and drinks together and experience the community spirit that Life’s a Beach is known for. The atmosphere is friendly and sociable, while remaining respectful and comfortable for guests who prefer a quieter stay.
Life’s a Beach was created to bring people together through travel, culture and shared experiences. We believe tourism should benefit both travellers and the local community, and we aim to offer every guest a memorable, authentic and welcoming experience on Vietnam’s coast.

Place is good, Staff is friendly, but very far outside the city and the prices for food and drinks are crazy high

This was a hostel that felt like a little patch of paradise. Unfortunately because it was far away from everything, they could charge exorbitant prices for everything. The food, the drinks and the paddle boards/kayaks were all overpriced, and people are forced to pay that because there were no alternatives. The only things that were resonably priced were the rooms and the bikes. Also under the property it claims there are bicycles but the were not unfortunately.

I had an incredible time at Life’s a beach. If you want a couple days away from the chaos of travelling and want to relax I’d highly recommend staying here. I only stayed for a day and a half but I felt right at home! Would have stayed even longer if I could. The only thing I would say is the food is slightly pricey especially as there’s nothing else nearby
