Long-established Ryokan (Japanese-style inn) Hirashin with a 150-year old history. Located in the center of Kyoto, 3 minutes walk from Shijokarasuma. In addition, there is a conveniently 1 minute walk to Nishiki Market.

The lobby is finished in stone-paved style tiles and white wood, creating a bright, relaxing, modern Japanese atmosphere, and the breathtaking location with the elegant use of bamboo is popular among international guests.

The rooms have bath and toilet with over 10 tatami mats in the Japanese-style rooms. A large public bath is also available located in the basement.

Kyoto Ryokan Hirashin serves guests from all over the world.

We enjoyed our time at the ryokan- when we left the next morning we realised the door wasn’t coded to lock - a quick chat with the concierge sorted it with the master key. Asked about the laundry system he implied there wasn’t even though later we researched there service but easily chalked up to language barrier - lovely location would recommend!

In general you're paying to sleep in a room that resembles a Japanese traditional house. But it's very expensive for something that has not even breakfast included.
