AKAO House

I just finished a wonderful 4-night stay at Akao House owned and managed by a wonderful woman with a constant smile, Fabiola. This is a marvelous hostel 10 minutes walk from Arequipa main place, Plaza de Armas. I reserved a private room with private shower. The room was large, the bed was comfortable, there was a mini fridge to store groceries and the shower stream was hot and good quality. The WiFi signal was strong. The terrace is large and you can sit down, relax and read a book.

If you book a private room, there is a small fridge in the room which can store food and snacks without worrying of it going missing. There is the Plazavea supermsrket some 500m away (5-10min walk), which is convenient for stocking up. Fabiola (host) was very nice and proactive in helping, you can practice your Spanish with her. There is no water purification machine in the kitchen, so you have to buy water nearby (2.5soles for 2.5L in Plazavea).

Ich habe mich bei Fabiola und ihrer Familie sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Herberge liegt fussläufig sehr nah am Zentrum aber in einer ruhigen Gegend. Ich hatte ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad, das sauber und einfach aber mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet war. Die Gastgeberin hat sich um mich gekümmert als es mir nicht so gut ging. Wenn man ein ruhiges Hostel mit Privatsphäre in der Nähe des Zentrums sucht, ist man hier goldrichtig.
