Refugio La Roca
Wake up just 30 metres from the rock.
Set above the Chicamocha Canyon in Mesa de los Santos, Refugio La Roca is an Eco-Living & Sanctuary for climbers, travellers, nature lovers and anyone looking for a slower way of living.
We are the closest place to stay to La Mojarra climbing park, just steps from the main crag. The park is home to hundreds of climbing routes, and your daily entrance is included with your stay.
Wake up with the sun, make yourself a Colombian coffee and be climbing within minutes.
Not a climber? You don’t need to be.
Practice yoga, hike, cycle, work remotely, read, cook in our communal kitchens, meet travellers from Colombia and around the world, or find a quiet place overlooking the canyon and do absolutely nothing for a while.
Life here is simple and shared.
Our private rooms, dorms, communal kitchens and common spaces coexist with the landscape. Earth, stone, wood and natural materials shape an architecture that follows the mountain rather than trying to dominate it.
This is not a conventional hotel.
There is no traditional front desk or hotel-style service. La Roca is cared for by a small community of resident volunteers, many of them climbers, who spend part of their day welcoming guests and looking after the sanctuary, and the rest climbing, exploring and living in the mountains.
The person welcoming you will most likely be someone who lives here too.
We invite you to make yourself at home, cook, share the common spaces, meet people when you feel like it and find solitude when you need it.
