Ideally situated in the centre of Galle, this vibrant hostel shares its home with Sydney Hotel — a 100-year-old local bar where generations have gathered to laugh, debate, and celebrate life — and 1921, a brand-new restaurant that reimagines Sri Lankan classics with a modern twist.
Step into the past from the moment you arrive — our reception features vintage furniture from the 1960s, and a timeline of photographs traces the building’s colourful journey through the decades. The property itself dates back over 150 years, built during the colonial era to serve travellers and traders long before backpacking was a thing. And if you’ve ever wondered why it’s called “Sydney Hotel,” well… that’s a story best heard over a drink at the bar.
