The constant reminders to “be careful with your valuables” and “not to trust fellow guests” felt a bit unsettling. As a solo traveler, one of the main reasons for choosing a hostel is to meet new people and feel part of a community. Repeatedly warning guests instead of improving safety measures gives the impression that the management doesn’t fully trust its guests, which goes against the open and friendly culture hostels usually promote.
