Welcome to Breakwater Hostel
Often described as “a second home” and “the first and last traditional backpackers in Newquay”.
This long-established homely hostel offers a warm welcome to all guests – surfers, hikers, and travellers alike.
We are situated in the heart of Newquay, within easy walking distance of awesome surfing beaches including Fistral Beach, Towan Beach, Great Western Beach and Tolcarne Beach. The town centre is on our doorstep where you can find a range of cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, surf shops, a leisure centre, a cinema, and even an aquarium.
We are a great base for many scenic walks along the coast to Holywell Bay, Porth beach, Lusty Glaze, and Watergate Bay. And even further!
Come and enjoy our many facilities, including secure surfboard storage room, wetsuit storage, warm showers, free breakfast between 8 am and 10 am. We also have a fully equipped self-service kitchen which is open from 8 am – 8 pm and we provide free tea, coffee, and milk all day.
If it’s a few relaxing days chilling on the golden beaches, learning to surf, or a fun-filled weekend you are looking for.

Cancellation policy: 7 day(s) before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check-in from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Check-out before 10:00 AM
Payment upon arrival by cash, credit and debit cards.
