St. Gallen Youth Hostel

This was my first time booking a mixed male/female room since it doesn’t look like all female rooms are a thing at this particular hostel. The hostel was EMPTY, and very eery. It sucked because out of the handful of people staying and several empty rooms I was put with a male. (One that very obviously was not happy to have a roommate) so it made for an awkward night. Just a Very unwelcoming environment.

The building itself was okay, security fine. The facilities cleanliness was acceptable, however, not well stocked. The girls bathrooms on one floor ran out of toilet paper entirely, I had to go downstairs and in the other bathroom most stalls also had no toilet paper. It was night so there was no one to replace it. The secretary man was very slow to help and seemed apathetic. On my first night there, there were a total of 4 other people in the hostel. Not a lively joint. Location very bad too.

Loved it here staff were so friendly. Very quiet place and chill, not the most sociable but I wanted a few nights here to chill. Much older crowd as others have said so just a heads up. Didn’t have a problem with that - it’s located on a hill so beautiful views of the city too. Beds were good and brekkie was decent.
