Queen Victoria Hostel

I have travelled across Australia, staying in hostels in a similar price range to this one, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had. The entire hostel setup and staffing team seem to be aiming to minimize effort as much as possible while still retaining a profit. The bathrooms were dirty and actively breaking down, the kitchen was only big enough for two people to cook at a time, the common room was musty and small, and the wifi did not work from my room. When I went to check out and receive my deposit back, I found out that the reception was only open from 11 am-12 pm, requiring me to wait until the staff arrived to be able to leave. I asked if I would be able to leave my bags there, and the staff at the front desk begrudgingly said yes before telling me that they would not refund my deposit until after after I came back for them lest I pull off the top-tier scam of…leaving all my stuff there? All in all, such a negative experience and I would recommend avoiding at all costs. This review should not come as a shock to the staff, we communicated our dissatisfaction to them and they did not apologize and could clearly not care less.

Fantastic place to stay with a quiet yet friendly atmosphere, lovely rooms, more than adequate amenities and very helpful staff. Having stayed in many hostels before this was by far one of my best hostel experiences. Highly recommend

I only stayed for one night, but got good vibes from this place! The have lockers for your stuff, and privacy curtains on the beds which is appreciated. Didn’t get to check out the kitchen or other amenities
