SOLO BACKPACKERS - THAT’S BAREFOOT’S VIBE 🔥
We accept only solo travellers or pairs (max 2 people that are ready to mingle). We’re all about creating a fun, social space where it’s easy to meet new people. If you’re here for the vibes, the laughs, and the connections, you’re in the right place. We are NOT suitable for travellers who only want to keep to themselves — doing your own thing is fine, but we’d love it if you join in the fun with the group and be part of the Barefoot family.
Groups of friends unfortunately can’t be accommodated by us, and booking multiple reservations to bypass this rule is not allowed.

We want you to have the best possible experience — and that means being upfront about who we are not suitable for:
🙎♂️Travellers who need super-fast WiFi and office-style seating — great for holiday mode, not so great for long work sessions.
🙎♂️Travellers looking for a fully quiet, private stay — we’re a social space where connection comes first.
🐶Travellers who are not into dogs — we adore our two hostel dogs (check the photos!). If you’re not comfortable around dogs, this might not be the right place for you

THE HOSTEL
Barefoot Backpackers Hostel, Hiriketiya Beach is like no other. We’re a super social hostel bringing backpackers together in a lush tropical garden. Just 6 minutes from the stunning horseshoe bay, you can surf the famous waves or relax on the sand. Beach bars, cafés, and sunset spots are right at your doorstep — get ready to make friends, catch waves, and soak up the island vibes!

Start your morning with a sunrise surf worthy of Aquaman, followed by a breakfast so good it makes you dance. Lounge in our garden on beanbags so soft you’ll forget stress exists, cool off in the outdoor shower, or play beach volleyball on our own court. When the sun sets, join our evening activities for laughter and connection.
ACTIVITIES
In high season, we host social dinners, beach volleyball tournaments, we dance together and more! Perfect if you’re ready to make new friends and share adventures.

* Check-out: 08:00–11:00
* Quiet hours: 23:00–07:00
* Aircon hours: 18:00–11:00
* Cancellation: 1 day minimum (24 hours) before arrival date (not check-in time)
* Open dorm style: curtain-free dorms – designed for a friendly, open atmosphere
* We have NO open kitchen – all day brunch & coffee available at reception
* We have a local team – our 10 amazing staff are from the area; some may have limited English, so let’s meet language barriers with smiles and good vibes
* We have a dog – if you don’t like dogs, this might not be your hostel. For us, our dog is an inseparable part of Barefoot life.
