Good location, 15-20 min walk to the old town. clean room and bathroom. not very social. I liked that there were no bunk beds in the shared rooms. breakfast was a lunch package instead of a buffet

GESTAPO HEADQUARTERS! If you’re thinking about staying at Freedom Hostel (or Premium Hostel, which shares the same building) it’s important to know that the building was originally the Krakow Gestapo headquarters. We didn’t receive any info about this online and only found out when translating a plaque on the wall that explained that “thousands of Polish people have been tortured and murdered by German barbarians in this building”. Perfectly fine hostel but we found this very disturbing.
