Florian's Hostel

I had an amazing stay here, the staff are so lovely and helpful. This is the place to stay if you want to meet new interesting people. The facilities are all clean and accessible. Although I haven’t stayed in other hostels I’ve heard that this is the best one around from people who frequently visit Rio. Thanks again x

Pretty disappointed with this hostel. Got there in the evening and stood outside for 15 minutes ringing the buzzer and shouting hello until someone finally let us in. There were people in our beds and the sheets were dirty on the bed we got moved to. The room had a funky smell and the toilet sinks didn’t drain. Also the 3 tier bunks feel like they are going to collapse and the kitchen equipment was dirty. Overall did not feel welcomed and the hostel felt very dirty and unpleasant.

I had an amazing time at Florian’s hostel! The staff were very kind and friendly, the vibe was very social, so I was able to meet people to do activities with. Breakfast was decent, can’t complain about included food! The hangout spaces were good for meeting people, especially if you speak Portuguese and English. I appreciated the curtains on the beds, which gave privacy in a room of 8 other people. The bathrooms weren’t always the cleanest, but for a solo traveler on a budget, who cares!
