Hostal El Arbol

Hostel El Arbol is a lovely place to stay in La Serena. It felt like staying in a cosy home rather than a hostel. It’s quite small in size which makes it easy to meet other travellers, particularly over a free breakfast. The staff/owners are always so helpful and welcoming. The place is very clean. I think the only downside is that the kitchen was very cramped - but tbh with so few guests you’re not waiting long. That and a hostel cat and it would be perfect! Muchas gracias!

Really nice hostel with very friendly staff and a pretty decent hostel breakfast. Rooms were really comfortable (they also smelled great… for sure the best smelling hostel room and bathroom I’ve been in!) Overall very pleasantly surprised with La Serena and the hostel.

This is a wonderful hostel and the staff were so friendly and helpful when I had questions about tours, transport and recommendations for the area. It is positioned perfectly close to the Japanese gardens and close to the plaza de armas and is only a 25 min walk from the beach. The beds are super comfy and the breakfast was one of the best I've had in South American hostels. It is not a massive hostel so there is a lovely homey vibe! No complaints.
