Destiny Student - Shrubhill is located just off Leith Walk close to Waverly Train Station, the Edinburgh Playhouse or the St. James Shopping Centre, this purpose-built student campus accommodation offers guests a central and affordable base in Edinburgh. Our modern designed common areas such as games room and lounge area offer a great space to socialise or join in for one of our various events.

Destiny Student - Shrubhill offers double en-suite rooms with shared kitchen and living areas. Private apartments are available for larger groups or families. Studios with en-suite facilities, and private kitchen and living areas are also available.

All rooms are en-suite with 120cm-wide, small double beds, fresh linen, access to kitchen facilities and living areas with a TV. Guests can make use of free WiFi access throughout the building, games room and a pay-as-you-go laundry facility. Simple key fob entry throughout the building.

At Shrubhill we offer you a 24 hour reception just as well as a tour desk where you can book your pub crawl, walking tour or bus tour into the Highlands.

There are lots of independent cafes and restaurants in the area and even a supermarket in the same building. The bus stop opposite the accommodation offers you a bus connection into the Old Town or you could choose to walk there in just 15 minutes.


Things to note:
•All the rooms have a 3/4 double bed (120cm) and an en-suite bathroom.
•All the rooms are housed in apartments of 4-6 rooms. Each of these apartments has a communal kitchen and lounge.
•Full payment is taken at the time of booking to confirm the reservation. In the case of a free cancellation we'll issue a full refund to the card that was charged.

Felt like a prison cell, no ventilation so the room gets very hot. Asked for a fan and they gave us a broken one, so we had to ask for another one. Long hallways without windows (really hot as well) , it feels like out of a horror movie. Almost no one there, the atmosphere was terrible. The mattress was the cheapest you can imagine, as is the case with everything else on this building,could feel the springs which made sleeping very difficult. I had booked 3 nights and was regretting it on day 1.

The facilities are correct, nothing spectacular, but we payed A LOT because the city was impossible due to a Taylor Swift concert. I imagine that, on a regular basis, this hostel is an affordable option. We booked a double room but it was clearly for a student, so the bed was no wider than 1,05 m. The location is good, no more than 20-25 minutes walking to the city center.
