VIKI Kazimierz Hostel

The location is perfect, but the atmosphere is utterly depressing. No lounge to rest, go online, get a coffee or socialise with other guests. No breakfast. Hard to find upon arrival. I wasn’t given a code to enter, so had to call them upon arrival for this. A long climb in a dark staircase with cold concrete stairs. The receptionist upon arrival was correct, but not overly welcoming. The one when I left was plain rude. Krakow has so much to offer, and so many nicer hostels.

Zero sense of privacy in the rooms, the floors were so squeaky that you couldn't even try to walk quietly as to not wake up the other roommates, dirty dishes in the kitchen areas, communal spaces not too well maintained

This is genuinely the worst place I have EVER stayed in in my life. I have never had such a bad experience. We arrived and were immediately greeted with the smell of dog food and rotting animals. The place absolutely reeks. We go into our dorm and there’s a woman, maybe member of staff, who literally lives there full time. She had 6 suitcases, a frying pan and her staff uniform in the dorm. The next day the cleaner came in and opened her curtain. Little did we know we were about to be blamed for this. We’re on our way out and this woman starts going ballistic on us in polish accusing us of having been through her stuff. We tell her it’s the cleaner but then the cleaner comes in and start ganging up on us. Doesn’t end here. The men in this hostel are on another level. So disgusting and made us feel VERY unsafe. We chose to leave immediately and told the reception what happened who showed absolutely NO pity and didn’t refund us. Do not stay here.
