The 17 Hostel

I am extremely dissatisfied with The Hostel 17's service. I stayed there last month for five days with my sister, and we were very disappointed by the overall uncleanliness. There was only two single bathrooms shared between the entire hostel (both of which were disgusting)--don't believe the pictures they post. We felt unsafe at night because the front door (which was supposed to be locked at 9pm) seemed to always be open, and there was a bar right next door. The noise was also insane; things did not quiet down until 5am most nights. Most of all, I am upset over the fact that they have wrongly charged me multiple times. Before my stay, I was double-charged a large fee, and it took three weeks of multiple emails and phone calls before someone finally contacted me back. When I checked in, the receptionist tried to charge me again, even though I had already paid. Now, it is weeks later and I was just charged another large balance. I am hoping someone responds to my attempts at contact ASAP, but I doubt it. After this issue is resolved, I will be blocking this company through my credit card and all other means of contact, and recommending to everyone to stay far away from The 17 Hostel.

Dirty dorm with visible mold on the mattresses. Male staff repeatedly entered our female dorm without knocking, including while a guest was changing. One staff member made inappropriate comments about our appearance, making us feel unsafe. We reported it but received no apology. Would not recommend, especially for female travelers.

The vibe here is great, friendly staff with easy check-in! Cute rooftop patio area to enjoy the morning or evening sun! Kitchen facilities are available and the rooms were super clean and great bathroom space! Super convenient location with plenty of bars, restaurants and coffee shops only a few minutes walk away! Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
