One of the most homely and nicest hostels I’ve stayed in anywhere. The 10 bed dorm is very spacious, and you can even get a non-bunk bed if you’re lucky! The beds are super comfy too. The kitchen area is well equipped and it was really social when I was there. I spent 5 nights here and could not fault it. Isabell was very kind and helpful too.

Casa Apel is my home away from home when I am visiting Puerto Varas. Elizabeth (“Ellie”), the manager, is a big reason this place is great. She does a wonderful job running the place. The hostel is about a 20 minute walk from the center of town and the building could use more bathrooms, but that being said the place is very clean, the kitchen is well supplied with cooking utensils and the price is great! 12,000 for a bunk with good blankets.
