Linked to Port Douglas Backpackers Hostel. Staff were very friendly and informative about the hostel and day trips. They were deep cleaning on the day I arrived. Leaking aircon was repaired the same day. Lovely food places in walking distance, and 4 mile beach. Other guests were friendly and polite. I didn't quite figure out the laundry, but I also didn't ask. Tokens available for the bar downstairs to get meal deals for $10. Local transport was an issue, but the hostel had recommendations.

Room was okay. Window was broken and would not open. No staff at reception allowing anyone to walk in off the street and up to rooms. The kitchen was disgusting, bins overflowing with maggots, mouldy food through fridges and rotten food left all over the place. I've stayed at many hostels and this was by far the worst kitchen I've ever seen. Guy that checked us in gave us a key and room number. No information about check out or amenities. Avoid this place at all cost.

The hostel is in a great location and is very easy to get to, overall though a very over rated hostel. staff run it like a death camp with endless rules and 1 particular female staff member just hated by the patrons. You only have 1 shower and toilet so expect a long wait time "but they let you use the disabled toilet" even though it's morally wrong.. The common area is run down with a tv that doesn't work, or stoves that are luke warm, do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.
