La Perla has potential for becoming a terrific Pacific beach hostel, ocean view, surf and all. Yet, vibe is lacking. It's not that the owner's friends aren't friendly, they just consider it rude to not join them for five beers at the noisy bar. Dogs roaming backyard may confront you growling on way out or even to the shared bathroom. Availability of guest kitchen is scarce, if ever. I got free coffee for breakfast, though. No sound proofing between shared bathroom and single room.
