La Lagartija Iquitos

Recommend staying here before or after your Amazon Slow Boat! What made this hostel so great was how good the owner is! Honestly he made every effort to ensure my stay was good, offered laundry and luggage storage and even drove me himself to an ATM with no fees!! The hostel is nice and social but also split into private rooms for the price of a dorm which is nice to have the privacy with a social setting. For a new hostel it’s brilliant! Stay here!

Juan is a genuine guy and a great host. The breakfast is solid, and I managed to have queen sized beds to myself all 3 nights I was there. The shower was cold but refreshing in the heat, though it could have had more pressure. No A/C (common in Iquitos) but plenty of fans. No lockers to store valuables, so that could be an area for improvement. Overall great value for money.

La Lagartija was awesome I’d definitely recommend staying there when in Iquitos. The owner Juan is the man, friendliest and most helpful dude in Peru. Once you enter you have at least one new friend guaranteed. He’s always working to make the hostel better and make a nice experience for the guests. Great atmosphere and chill area too.
