I enjoyed my stay and would likely stay again however I was a bit disappointed the hostel didn’t have a self catering kitchen. As personally part of the appeal of staying in hostels is having the option of saving money by being able cook for oneself and save on eating out. Otherwise no complaints and the staff were really helpful.

booked here as a late replacement for Great North Run weekend after my usual accommodation closed down. unfortunately the facilities that I would expect in every other hostel I visit were lacking - no lockable storage in the rooms, no kitchen facilities available. the lift was also out of service on the 2nd day, although that did not affect me personally, and there were very few communal relaxation spaces available as the bar area remained closed for large parts of the weekend
