Mamatierra Hostel

Want to start of by saying that all the members of staff were really lovely and helpful. However given the price and the high rating I expected a bit better! Facilities are clean but outdated. The bunk beds in the dorm with a private bathroom were very difficult to get up and down from, with a narrow ladder. There is no plug socket for the upper bunks. The room was dingy and very poorly ventilated, and became quite hot with no fan. Hot water but bathroom could be nicer. Unlikely to stay again.

Very nice hostel, very clean and hot water. The owner, Nayira, is very friendly. It was a bit expensive for a hostel but it is the same for all the hostels here. You have the possibility to book tours directly through the hostel (they don’t have the Lagunas Baltinatche tour, that I really recommend, but they have most of the tours). They also offer to book transfers to Calama airport for 15 000 CLP, which seems to be a fair price. I would definitely recommend this hostel. I had a great stay.
