Elena Guesthouse

When I arrived they told me my room was unavailable, walked me up the road to a different hotel of lesser standard (no air-con etc) then they refused to give my deposit back. I was totally unimpressed by their attitude.

I could rate Elena's down for atmosphere but that would be wrong. It's not a backpacker party hostel, nor is Kalambaka a party town. But it sits right beneath the looming Meteora rock formations and in the old town. Elena is the most pleasant host and the rooms are excellent. I'd highly recommend staying here.

The facilites are excellent here, especially the bathrooms which is great because its usually the bathrooms that need the most work. The staff was excellent with us. They sometimes seem short but I think its more from the translation then their attitude. Their location is great!! Right at the start of the foot paths up to the Monasteries!
