Staff attitude was bad. Despite emailing them twice (english and chinese emails) that i will be arriving quite late, the reception office was closed even when i arrived earlier than the mentioned time. The bar staff called the receptionist and i waited almost 20 mins when a chap and a girl came and seems pissed off. Then they questioned me did i made any booking or not. Seems like my presence wasnt expected by them and hostelworld did not inform them? anyway another lady in morning is friendlier

Pretty good hostel all round... a little bit run down and a little bit shabby but the overall atmosphere makes up for that

I do agree, the place would need some painting done some time soon, but for 30 yuans, one cannot expect a 4-star hotel! A great place to stay, close to the west lake and in the middle of the "forest". Breakfast is expensive though, 22 yuans!

We stayed in a 10 bed dorm. Terrible! -need to insist to get some clean bedsheets and not having to sleep on the dirty matress. - cockroaches and were bitten by fleas. - only have one for all the room guests: unsafe (room kept open) and unconfortable. - The worst of all was the bathroom. It was disgusting. Completely dirty and there was not a clean spot to leave your belongings while taking a shower. There were also about 5 big bees inside the bathroom and it was imposible to get them out.

The good: awesome atmosphere, with a huge common area courtyard and bar. They show a movie every night outside. on the projector. It's really close to the lake, if that's your main thing in Hangzhou. The bad: filthy. My dorm room was dirty and dusty. The toilets and showers on the top floor looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Food and drinks were expensive. The road outside was one-way (going from town to the lake) on the weekend. I would choose a cleaner place closer to town.

They have a good service, they are close to the mountains, the lake, the zoo. the price is awesome cheap, so don't look for anything fancy.

The standards of the rooms really depends on where you are in the complex. We stayed in both types of dorms and Rooms by reception are incomparably better than the wooden door rooms, where the female toilet/shower had a wasp nest in rendering it near unusable. All in all really good experience. Helpful staff, even though some staff didn't speak English there was always a member of staff around who did.

Chinese speaking foreigner. Was not given a key to the room and was told to contact the desk (open until midnight) if somebody closed the key-card access door. Food was overpriced and of poor taste. Dorm showers pitiful and I've paid less for a single room. Staff fairly rude and useless in attempting to help another foreigner, but could have just been that day. Located far from nicer parts of the lake and is nearly impossible to find without using their website directions. Will not return.
