So clean! And really nice hot showers! So close to the bus station in Gion, I'll definitely stay again next time I'm in Kyoto.

Probably the best dorm type I ever used. Yo and Tom were great, thanks guys! Very clean, great showers, free coffee, nice common room. Male dorm beds are softer, but mixed dorm privacy is nicer. No big lockers though, but each guest gets a small one. Noisy drunk guests spoiled the stay a bit. Great Hostel!

Great location in Gion district, and just a short walk away from the city center. Easy to access many of the main tourist attractions via the local bus system.

Hey Staff, Thanks for everything, you guys really made me love Japan. I will stay here again and hope to see you. I really enjoyed meeting a new member of your hostel staff everyday and getting a chance to practice and learn Japanese. Your beds were great and everything was clean and up to par. You ROCK!

Excellent location in historic Gion - within walking distance to everything. Very helpful English speaking staff will give you directions, suggestions and whatever you need. Not a lot of floor space in the dorms, but everything works out. Can highly recommend this place.

Excellent location in the heart of Gion! Clean rooms, great facilities - also spotlessly clean. Friendly, very helpful staff. Comfortable common area, with all you require. Also the addition of toast breakfast was a really nice touch, so simple, but after eating rice balls for breakfast everyday a slab of toast was a good change and a welcome touch!

Very thankful for the help we received from the staff. We were very particular about cleanliness and A-yado aced this aspect.

A very good dormitory type, each bed (below and upper) separete by curtain so you can feel comfortable in private area.

Everything was so well taken care of and the head of the hostel is probably the best part. He helped me do anything and everything, going way beyond a normal hostel owner. The atmosphere: half the time it was really lively and the other half really tame. The beds in the boys dorm have a thicker pad than in the mixed dorm (obviously don't know about the girls). Location is best ever, geisha buildings out the window! The food supply (very large, cheap price) is extremely convenient too.

I had a very nice time. The other patrons staying there were very friendly, the lounge area is very conducive to friendly conversation, and they offer a variety of goods - beer, cup noodles, snacks - that you can just take and pay for in the lounge. Very convenient! The mixed dorm was very comfortable and I had plenty of room, but there were no individual lights you could turn on - the lights would light the whole room. The staircase was cold because it opened to the outside.

My first-ever perfect score for a hostel. Perfect size (3 dorms of 10), ideal location (a very short walk from Kyoto centre), pleasant and helpful staff, excellent showers, and especially a great kitchen/common room (with honesty box to pay for beers, snacks, etc) that was a wonderful social hub on each night of my stay (and not just at night - throughout the day, whenever I returned to the hostel). I'd say the planning behind this hostel was jsut right. I will definitely stay again.

I loved the hostel! Really nice staff and also gave us great tips and facilities! It's a cool location, near everything. And you can have a fresh bread every morning for your breakfast! ^_^ It's tiny, but here in Japan everywhere is like that! Enjoy!

Great hostel! Staying right in Gion is a neat experience, it is a beautiful area with so much to see. You have to walk a little farther to find budget places to eat but that didn't bother us. The hostel is very clean, and because of the way the rooms are set up you get a lot of privacy even in the shared dorms. The curtain wraps around the bunks but gives you room to change, leave you bags etc. almost as good as having your own room. I liked that the bathrooms and showers were right in the dorms
