Great hostel! Staying right in Gion is a neat experience, it is a beautiful area with so much to see. You have to walk a little farther to find budget places to eat but that didn't bother us. The hostel is very clean, and because of the way the rooms are set up you get a lot of privacy even in the shared dorms. The curtain wraps around the bunks but gives you room to change, leave you bags etc. almost as good as having your own room. I liked that the bathrooms and showers were right in the dorms

There was a common area upstairs where everyone hung out which made it very easy to meet people. The staff knew English for the most part, and they were very helpful even if it sometimes took a bit to explain what you wanted. The location was easily accessible by buses, so getting around was pretty easy. I'd definitely stay here again!

A cheap and clean hostel, which is perfectly located in Kyoto to get everywhere quite fast. The staff was also very friendly and helped with every question I had. Also don't miss out on meeting the other guests in the common room to exchange with other people and enjoy some time together with a beer and some Nintendo Wii! ;)

I had a great time staying here, it was so nice to come back and relax after a long day around Kyoto. The location can't be beat, you can literally walk to everything in the east side of Kyoto. Thanks, I would definitely stay here again!

I used train to the hostel. But the direction from the train station exit was none, hence it took me > 35 mins to get hold of the hostel with heavy load of lugguages on hand even thougt it supposed to take only 15 mins walk. Watmore, v can't communicate in Japanese & many liocals can't understand English 2 provide us the directions to the hostel. The signages was also not easy visible to many locals. It made us in difficulties indeed

Very very convienently located, close to Gion (geisha district), close to Kyoto's nightlife, shop and restaurant, and in wlaking distance from Higashiyama's shrines and temples. The staff is friendly, laid-back and competent. The bed are ok. It's very cheap and the sell bus day passes. The common room is really nice, and you can buy very very cheap food and drinks at the hostel. The only "negative" thing, is that the bathrooms are situated in the bedroom area, so it's quite noisy in the morning.

Good location in the center of Gion (geisha) district! With bus 206 only 15min from Kyoto JR station and then 5min walking till the hostel. Helpful staff. VERY clean bathrooms, toilets and nice bed with good sheets. I would recommend staying here.

Great place. Takes a while to get there from the train station, but it's not so hard to find. Staff is very nice, helpful, and speaks English pretty well.

If you like sleeping, don't stay here, even w/earplugs. It's cheap so I expected the crowded room and little style, but realize that: 1-There's no locker/secure place for baggage. 2-There's no light blocking curtains around the bed, so when people enter the room at 2am they will turn on the florescent light, waking everyone up. 3-the sink/hairdryer/showers are in the rooms, resulting in tons of noise when ppl get up at 6. 4. "Breakfast" is literally just a slice of bread. (more, but no room)

We've stayed in a group of seven people for 3nights and we were absolutely sathisfied, the hostel has got everything you need and especially willing and patient staff (we love the idea of free bread and fridge always full with cheap beer :) Wish there were hostels of this kind also in Europe, they are perfect!!
