Great little place, rooms are clean and secure, staff are friendly and speak good english, the location is perfect for the evening, very close to lots of bars and restaurants, and for one of the largest temples in the city, so, highly recommended all in all.

Great place to stay. Great staff, good location and easy to find. Loads of advice about what to do and places to visit and lots of other travellers to meet. Definitely make this your home in Kyoto!

Great place in great location. East Kyoto has most of the cool sights so you can easily walk to most of them and save money on transportation. Staff is very friendly and allowed me to check in a little early, thank you! Staff has plenty of easy directions and extra info, food maps ect.

On the positive location is OK but then just alike other hostels in Kyoto. The main negative is that he bunk beds in all rooms are ridiculously cramped up so that there is no space to move at all. In the mix dorm there are ceiling high curtains trying to hide this, but that makes the room extremely noisy because people cannot see if there is someone in the next bed. Common room is really small as well. This may spoil your Kyoto experience but there are better cheap hostels

I ‘ve stayed four hostels in Kyoto and think this is the best. The rooms are pretty clean and it’s nice shower room is inside the room. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location, for me Japanese,it was easy to find but not sure for foreign traveller. There are green tea café’TSUJIRI’ and traditional cosmetic shop’YOJIYA’ just near the hostel. These are very popular among Japanese. I recommend you visit them.Anyway, it is very cheap if you book via hostelworld. Cheeper than other Japanese site!

Brilliant hostel! The room was great, loads of PCs with free internet all the time. Drinks and food upstairs in the common room to save you going to the shop, and located in Gion, a beautiful part of Kyoto. Also very close to the street with the main pubs and clubs!

Very helpful guy working reception. Rooms were nice and clean, even if the mattress was a little thin! Good location for walking to the city.

We were a group of 6 visiting for 1 night. They had space available when we arrived very early in the morning so they let us check in and use the facilities, much needed after a 10 hour bus journey. The place was set up so well, with privacy in dorms and a nice communal area with beers and snacks available at a cheap price. Would definiately recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto.

I had a great time. A-yado has a great location and pretty easy to find from Kyoto Stn. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are quite good. The common room could be a bit bigger, since it can get crowded in there. But that's the only suggestion I can really think of. If I'm back in Kyoto I'll definitely stay there again. Thanks!

very nice place and cheap in the center of Kyoto. I would spend my time again if I come to Kyoto and will tell to my friend about your hostel.

A-Yado is one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Its location couldn't be better (even if the directions from the station are a little confusing!), the staf couldn't be friendlier, and the price is great by Japanese standards!
