Good value for money hostel in an easily accessible location. My only bug-bear was the patchy WiFi.

It was a good hostel. It is tricky to find the first time but after that no problem. Short walk to the subway and a couple stops away from the action. The price was good and it was comfortable. The staff spoke english, Chinese, and Japanese and were friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to someone especially if they are looking for a cheaper hostel.

Would be nice if there were more plates, cutlery, utensils etc in the kitchen.

Hello, thank you for your comment. For the plates cutlery and kitchen utensils, we have put more in the kitchen. To avoid to make kitchen look tidy, we always put them in the closets or drawers in the kitchen. Hopefully next time ,if you are here again, can enjoy the kitchen part..

Staff are very friendly and helpful & the location is good. The facilities are not great - no good common area, not enough showers (none on 3rd floor). However, it's TOKYO and what can be expected for a reasonable price?! The wi-fi connection is erratic, mostly doesn't work so I have to come to reception area. Biggest problem is reception closes from 12-3pm, when lots of people tend to arrive. Also, this makes it difficult to store luggage after check-out cos u can't get it til 3pm

Truthfully, the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. The location felt fairly safe, but is a bit distant from the heart of Tokyo and I probably spent as much on trains as I could've spent on a better hostel in a closer area. Also, just very dirty. And NO security. The front door was almost always left unlocked and there are no locks on the room doors (i.e. anyone could come right in!). The best part was when one of the guys in our dorm room woke everyone up at 4am by peeing all over the floor. Yay!

Pros: -Good location (about a five minute walk to Asakusa) -Friendly English-speaking staff -Affordable price Cons: -The room (208) was freezing; there was a large gap in the window poorly covered by duct tape -The wireless connection was very poor -There were only two showers for multiple floors, and the cleaning times were very inconvenient -The room was ridiculously small and aesthetically unappealing -We could hear every noise made by our neighbors (coughing, talking, etc.)

Very low security. Not enough lockers and no locks on the doors. The staff were nice and friendly, but didn\'t even take down my name or copy my identification when I arrived. Although the place is extremely clean, there are not nearly enough showers, computers, toilets, or outlets for the amount of guests staying. There IS a bar in the lobby area, but because of that there isn\'t a \'living area\' where guests can relax.

The bar was great and the staff as well. The kitchen was lacking utensils. There`s no common area with sofa`s and TV but it`s a great location.

I have stayed in many hostels around the world and this one is definitely at the bottom of the list. The check in/out hours are very limited. When we arrived in the afternoon, we had locker our bags in the station and come back later because they weren't open. When we checked out to head to the airport, we didn't get our deposit back because reception didn't open for another 30 minutes. This hostel is quite gross and was super cold everywhere. It was also a rip off for the price.

Owner Comment (Show)
I apologize for the unpleasant experience that you had while staying at our hostel. As for the price, our hostel is priced below most of our competitors and I'm sorry to say accommodation prices in Tokyo are double those in Seoul. As for the other problems you addressed I will discuss them with the owner of the hostel and see if there are ways that we can find to rectify them. Thank you for your feedback. Sincerely Asakusa Smile.

Staff were friendly and helpful - we didn't have a room for the night of the 31st (we did for the 30th and 1st) however we were able to get showered and changed in the hostel, we had to move rooms as we booked last mintue, the staff were as helpful as possible with our luggage, flexible check in times, etc. All facilities very good- hot showers all times of the day, internet, decent bar, comfy bed in a warm room ... basic yes but for a base in Tokyo, fine.

Cheap. Good enough for a short stay if you really only need a bed and a shower, but in that case you might as well consider a net cafe. They do clean the rooms and everything, but imo the blankets and the toilets weren't as hygienic as they should be. The walls in our room were yellow from god-knows-what, but well I didnt expect much for the price anyhow, so if you're satisfied with just a bed for little money you can consider a stay. At least there is free internet available.

No key for dorm and had randomers trying to come in/packing their bags in our room all night - next morning we realized they weren't even from our room? Weird. Found a dead roach in the dish washer/rack - was there for the full 6 days we were here lol! were forced to take shoes off but not provided with slippers and the floor was a bit rough especially in the toilet. Cleaners take up same kitchen space. free drink on arrival includes an extra charge for a beer. stay in khaosan for same price.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello, thank you for you comment. And sorry for the randomers at that night. We will try to make it better. For the sleepers, we have already hand out sleepers to the guests. Anyway, thank you for stay.

A good experience overall but I was disappointed in the lack of bathroom slippers. The bathroom floor was wet after cleaning and there should have been slippers there for guests to use.

Hello, thank you for your comment and advice. We put sleepers in the bathroom before, but just a lot guests then wore them back to room or not put it back to the bathroom. So we decided to stop it. We are sorry for this point. We will find a way to make it out. Oki, Guys, THANK YOU SO MUCH for stay. And look forward to seeing you again!

It's not the greatest hostel, altough it is one of the cheapest. The facilities are not the best...1 toilet on the 3rd floor to share with about 20 people & no showers on this floor. No good common area except for the bar. Dorms are very small, but at least the beds are reasonably comfortable. Good budget accommodation in central Tokyo is rare and I will stay here again. Staff are nice and friendly.

Thank you for your comments. You are right that the facility seems not enough for the 3rd floor. The guests have to go the 2nd floor for shower. We will try to improve it. It is nice that you understand that we are trying to offer better service for the budget concerning backpackers.

A great hostel in a nice location and a spacious dorm considering it's Tokyo. All in all, very good value for money. The only downside was the limited opening hours of reception. I arrived at 11am and had to wait till 3pm to be able to check in.

Decent location, as well as helpful and friendly staff. Unfortunately also overcrowded, and had the odd roach here and there. The coin dryer ate change and spun, but dried nothing. Still, at the time of booking, this appeared to be the cheapest bed in town. And not such a bad deal, at that.

You get what you pay for. We were there in a very cold night, and there was no heater in our tiny room, that was the biggest drawback. The walls are also very thin, the guys next door came back from party early in the morning and they just didn't care while making noises. We were only one night, and we hardly could sleep.
