We were not impressed initially with having to navigate through a maze of corridors to locate the lift and then having to queue to even ride the lift to the 16th floor. However, we found the accommodations to be quite adequate for our needs. The rooms are very small, but they are quiet and provide a good night's rest. The shower was also very tiny, but the water temp was good and the shower turned out to be one of the best we have had. Newly renovated rooms are comfortable and a good value.

Last time we spend 2 nights there on a family room. We got a new room, but the electricity stuff is shut down because they can't afford with the hot water and AC for several rooms. The room was nice and clean but too small if we put our things there. The free wifi can be used on the lobby, better than in the room. Overall nice but keep improving the performance. :)

I have stayed at many Hostels and cheaper Hotels across Asia over the last 10 years. This is the WORST by far. The rooms are so small that you can't have a suitcase open and also open the door. There is not enough room to sit on the toilet normally, one has to sit side one..... Staff are off-hand. The lifts are atrocious and v slow f Nearly all of the information on the listing about this particular guest house is completely incorrect, other than the location which is excellent

good hostel, friendly staff (always willing to help). Small but decent rooms providing everything the backpacker needs Chunking Mansion is indeed an infamous place in Hong Kong. Once you get used to the constant smell of Indian curry and the Indian salesmen who try to sell you everything (simcard my friend, watches, copy watches, copy rolex, tailored suits, ....) it is a great place to start your trip.

Friendly, kind staff in incredibly central location (practically ON Hong Kong harbor). Small, but clean rooms.

We had a wonderful stay at Australian Guesthouse. It was very accessible for any type of transportation. Although the room was small for my family yet it was comfortable for us. Moin was very helpful and made sure our room was kept clean. Thank you. i will surely recommend this to my friends.

I stayed here before but last time I was in Australia guest house. This time I had been moved to another guest house on the 3rd floor which wasn't quite as nice and the guy even asked me to tip him. I thought he was just being friendly as part of the service but apparently not. It put me off staying there again. I get the feeling they're using other guest houses in the Chunking mansions if the beds get full at the Tokyo and Australia guest house which are a bit nicer. Clean, great location still

nothing about this place says it is ran by ex-british ..lets start with the place..the lifts are a joke..need to be a lot bigger and more..i should say..my GF and her mother who I was travling with..were scared the whole time they were there..the staff is Indian and the room they put them in..was right by the mirowave..and every night they would be cooking, and to use her words..it smelled so bad,was hard to sleep..and lets not even start to talk about the ground floor,so many hustlers..very poor

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms very clean and quiet. Though my room was small (the double bed touched all four walls) it was comfortable, and for such an innercity location, understandable. the ensuite was also tiny but perfectly clean and functional. loved having soap and towels and drinking water etc provided - such nice little touches. i couldn't get the wifi to work, but my computer is temperamental. The main issue is finding it: ask the guard to find which lift.

The place was clean, but lacked some of the charm we had elsewhere. No tour packages, maps or overly helpful front desk. The room was very tiny with a somewhat see through door- awkward when sharing everything in such small quarters. The building itself didn't seem the safest on the bottom level, but it was very close to the metro lines which was great. The walls are paper thin and we were by the front so at night we could hear the doorbell going off constantly. Not a place to meet others.

The rooms themselves are clean and everything seems new. Also, it was nice to have a window. However, the rooms are very small and certain appliances - such as the air conditioning - do not work. In addition, some of the staff was pretty unfriendly. The rest of the staff was nice but not particularly helpful. I know the location cannot be moved from Chunking Mansion, but perhaps something could be done to add some charm to the landing, stairwell, and overall space of the hostel.
