Good location, near other hostels and bars. Bar had good atmosphere and tuktuk driver was nice. Room needed renovating as floors tiles were broken and facilities looked a little worn.
I booked 2 nights here. It was decent - very basic accomodation. The staff here was very nice; she gave me some advice when I was planning my itinerary on my first day. Location is close to restaurants, atms, cafes and massage places. The pipe under the sink in our bathroom was broken so the water was drained directly to the floor but it's not a big issue; I guess it's already fixed by now.. Overall, this is an affordable hostel - good value for money.
The biggest complaint I have was that they painted my room right before we checked in. When we came back that evening to sleep and realized that the room was toxic, there was no one to be found. The smell was so bad that I had an asthma attack, and I do not have asthma. The next morning when I talked to the staff, they were very friendly and pleasant and were able to switch our room. I am curious how much nerve damage I suffered. The second night was great, we enjoyed the bar downstairs.
Really friendly staff, helpful and welcoming, everyone seemed to know my name. Others say it's a bit noisy, admittedly you're right on the street and there's a bar downstairs, but the rooms are more to the back so I had no trouble sleeping. Not in the main backpacker ghetto downtown but that's a bonus, the bar here is lively and there's plenty more nearby; Palace and Toul Sleng are only 15 mins walk away, Central Market 20. I'd recommend unless you're desperate to hang only with backpackers.
We booked the hostel for just one night, so that we could decide whether we stay there longer or not. I had no problem with it, but the girls didn't like it so we had to move. I think it has a good atmosphere, but if you are not used to backpackers' hostels, this is probably not for you. The location is great, near to a lot of bars and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful, they even sent us an email to check upon us because our bus from Siem Reap arrived quite late.
The hostel was set up in a rather strange way, but was an excellent value for money and located quite well in Phnom Penh (only a $2-3 tuk tuk ride to the riverfront).
