We were four generations traveling together and we all enjoyed our time in la Fortuna at cabinas las Cataratas. The nice big green garden at the front attracted lot of birds, lizards and others animals pleasant to watch in the morning while drinking a coffee. Mr. Felix and family are very friendly and always making sure you are comfortable and have everything you need.

We'd made a reservation for 2 nights but only stayed 1. No windows in the bedroom. Also there was no porch to sit outside. There were a lot of holes so plenty of huge insects could get inside. The first night we woke early because of one of those insects in our bed. The second day a bat was flying through the room. We expected a kitchen where we could cook ourselves a meal (as advertised) but there was no stove! We couldn't tell the staff any of this; they didn't speak a word English.

This is a great place to stay. It is a $3.00 taxi ride from central La Fortuna. Definitely worth it for the peace and quiet. A beautiful setting beneath the Arenal volcano.

The cabanas are located about a 30min walk from town however we found this more peaceful and relaxing. We didn't speak Spanish so found it difficult to communicate with the owners, however the son speaks English. Definitely get the breakfast for an extra $4 it was delicious and great value for money. Lots of room and also a kitchen to cook meals if you don't want to eat out. Located on a beautiful property with a short walk to a beautiful river! Would definitely stay here again.
