Fabio, Marysol, Sandra, and everyone else make hostel El Dorado an amazing place to stay. Comfy beds (some doubles in dorms) great location, and tons of possible activities make this a great choice for a place to stay in San Gil. I booked for 2 days and spent 6. Hard to make yourself leave. It's close to everything (buses to attractions, great restaurants, cool park) They also have a great farm just outside the city too. The perfect place to stay.
The staff at El Dorado are just lovely and so helpful and the location is perfect. Very chilled out place to relax in between activities. The rooms are a little small and ours didn't have any windows (not sure if others did or not). Overall a good place to base yourself for a few days in San Gil
The siblings who run the hostel were very friendly and helpful. You can book tours and transport to next destination from them which is very useful.
The staff at El Dorado is what makes your stay worthwhile. Whoever is at reception welcome you with friendly smiles and are ready to help with whatever you need. If you need a bus ticket, they'll have one delivered. Want a good meal? They'll point you in the right direction. The hostel is right in the center of the action, a half block from the main park and close to all the restaurants and markets. And don't forget to ask about El Dorado Expeditions and the outdoor activities around San Gil.
The staff was great but unfortunately the sheets where not clean. I recommend to book with an anticipation of 2 or 3 months so the prices doesn't go up. The room was not too big and it didn't have a place to organize what you carry.
