The location is ok, not far to from downtown and close to some of the main temples. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a rather small guesthouse so you won't find a buzzing atmoshphere. The walls are thin like in most of the traditional Japanese guesthouses. It seems obvious that you should be quiet when you're in the room. Unfortunately some of the guests ignore this so it can be quite annoying in the night. Peraphs the staff should remind the guests not to be loud when they check in
The facilities were dirty. There was hair all over the toilet and bathroom. It is an old house so the climbing the stairs was very creaky and could hear everyone's movement throughout the building (not very pleasant in the wee hours of the morning)
Unfortunately, I only had 2 days in Kyoto, but my stay at the Gojo Annex made it a fantastic experience with the friendly and helpful attitude by all staff. Located in small narrow streets and close to a wealth of ancient attractions easy and local restaurant accessible by foot or bike, gave a unique impression of Japan. Thank you - I hope I'll get a chance to come back.
