This guesthouse is situated on the opposite side from Nathan Hotel. There is only one girl who speaks English there, but some of them speak putonghua. The room is small,no refrigerator, there is only one small window. I lived there 9 nights, and came back late in the evening just to sleep. Everything was OK.

it was the worst place i have been ever.. one of the ugliest buildings of hong kong and really insecure. The building had a sign in every floor saying that there was one person urinating and defecating through the stairs of floor 3 to 7 and if you catch him they would give you 500hkd.. the first thing we did when they gave us our room was look for other place to stay. NEVER stay here!!

for character, if you ever watch hongkong movie, you would understand the place is just like the place that people got hit. for security, we did not live in the room, we were put in the space that have four wall that does not even touch the ceiling. location is ok, but you can find better location with cheaper price. for cleanliness, the toilet don't flush well, the floor is always wet, because they don't have shower cotton. Value for money, beyond very poor facilities, : (

The staff wasn't super friendly. I had told them we would be there at 12. They said the rooms weren't ready yet and we'd have to wait till 3. I reminded her I had said we would be there at 12. She gave us one room we had booked and an upgrade for ONE night. It wasn't super clean, but okay. I've stayed in cleaner places. The price was a little high. That could have been because I booked late. I'm pretty good with the MTR (Subway), but it definitely was about a 10 minute walk.

the day we arrived we got the smallest room ever (not enought space for two cabin suitcases) and of course no closet and with no hot water (you had to turn on a switch and they 90 years old man who did the check-in didnt tell us) and the next day they moved us to a 1 meter "larger" room. Any of the 4 days (3nights) we spent there they gave us towels or toilet paper, so we had to go to the reception and ask for them. If you're not a backpacker DONT GO because your suitcases won't fit in the room

Was not actually in the hotel they said it would be, it was some partner hotel. Also I booked a private ensuite room, but they gave it to someone else before I arriaved. They did charge me less for this, but the shared bathroom was really terrible. I think the sheets weren't clean either.

When I booked my room online, the Golden Island's website didn't mention that they would redirect me to another location a few streets away from the main building. I was on my own with nobody to interact with. Most importantly, my room was situated on a street where many prostitutes were working, day and night. I heard noises all night long and I am not sure what was happening in the room next to mine. I felt very unsafe and was hardly able to sleep. I had a terrible experience.

The localation is the best. It,s a little bit less expensive than Chunking Mansion. The rooms are small, but clean and beds are comfortable. the shower worked very well.

The cheapest that we found in HK, amazing location, buy Octopus card and travel by MRT around the island. Hostel itself is ok. Nice lady at reception, but they do not speak english well.

it is cheap and accesible. But it was difficult to look for. The room was very small. For people who are backpackers it can be considered. It was near the night market. But the problem was the staff. Most of them has difficulty in communicating in English.

The of Golden Island Guesthouse especially Jessie is very accommodating, flexible and warm. The room is clean but the space is very limited, well, that is common in hongkong hostels i guess. February is cold in Hongkong, I suggest that rooms will be equipped with heater, too.

The toilets would not flush. Generally elevators and common areas are run down and were aged. The facilities had the basics. The accomodations were satisfactorily if you were just looking for a place to sleep overnight. To sum the hotel up: a no thrills facility (just the basics) amenities.

At GIG you can expect a nice clean room, an unexpected comfortable bed, a very friendly and helpful stuff in the central area of kowloon. MTR is only a few minutes away from the hostel by walk, and a bus directly from HK airport stops close to the guesthouse too. Sadly there were no curtains on the window so the room was always illuminated by the outside lights (hangers + towel solved the problem) during the night.

We have a great day while staying in your hostel. The room is clean and so the bathroom. Hoping in the near future we can stay again and recommend it to our friend. God bless to the management and staff. p.s we didn\'t knew that the remaining balance will be paid in cash, that\'s the only hassle we encountered. Anyway thank you and more power to Golden island hostel.

Oh the GIG... what to say about this place... the staff is great. But this place was just too much to handle. We moved around to three different rooms, had lukewarm showers and my towel ripped when I dried my body off. The building is like a housing project with a guesthouse crammed in the middle of it. The staff really is very helpful and friendly but you should only stay here as a last resort.
