Property Information:
Continuing the same high standards of the original Alessandro Hostel, Hostel Alessandro Downtown was designed expressly for budget-minded backpackers.
We have large, clean dorm rooms with shared bathrooms. All rooms have air conditioning and heating units (on energy-saving timers). Linen and blankets are included and lockers are available in all dorm rooms.
There are also internet PCs in computer room (for a nominal fee) along with free Wi-Fi (hotspot) available throughout the building. Our large common room has a widescreen TV.
Offering a wide variety of services at reasonable prices, our exceptional location provides a safe, convenient base to explore and enjoy Rome's sites.
Breakfast is available for 4 Euros and includes ham, cheese, jam and butter, bread, cereals, fruit, hot/cold drinks and milk.

Self-service laundry is now available at the hostel. It’s just 4 Euros to wash up to 7kg and 4 Euros to dry up to 7kg. Soap is 1 Euro. Towels are available to rent and are included in the price of double rooms.
Designed expressly with the budget conscious traveller in mind, our hostel boasts free city maps, a tourist info stand, vending machines and free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out. We also organise free parties and this is a meeting point for walking tours.
The Colosseum, Roman Forum, Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, and San Pietro in Vincoli are very close, less than half-an-hour away on foot, and all parts of the city are accessible with public transportation by Metro, bus and tram.
As backpackers themselves, our staff are happy to offer tips and advice for the best deals in Rome.

The shopping mecca of Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the classy Via Veneto can all be reached on foot in approximately half an hour. Our central location means we’re close to Termini station, bus stops, the metro, supermarkets and historic sites. We have discounts agreed with Laundromats and restaurants nearby!

Cancellation Policy
This property has a 3 day cancellation policy.Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
Things to Note
Since 01/01/11, Rome City Council charges €2 per person per night on tourists who visit Rome. However, the Alessandro Downtown is a hostel-licensed property so you are not required to pay this tax :-)
There’s no curfew but our cleaning hours are from 10am to 3pm. There is no lock-out during the day, but we do ask that you help our cleaners out by staying out of their way as much as possible during their work.
Reception is open 24hrs throughout the year.
Late arrivals accepted.
Check-in: from 3pm. You’re welcome to leave your luggage with us during the day before check-in or after check-out.
Please make sure to inform us of any changes to your estimated arrival time.
Alessandro Downtown Hostel is part of the Hostelling International (HI) and Associazione Italiana Alberghi per la Gioventu' (AIG) networks.
Any guest who presents an HI membership card upon check-in will enjoy special guest privileges, such as two hours of free internet use, one free drink at the hostel bar (located at our sister hostel, Alessandro Palace), and €1 discount off our Rome walking tours.
For guests from outside of Italy, it’s possible to buy an IYHF (International Youth Hostel Federation) membership card, which is valid for one year from the date of purchase, at the hostel reception. The full membership card costs €18, or else the basic card with one Welcome Stamp costs €3. Please note: you need six Welcome Stamps to obtain full membership.
For Italian guests, the individual AIG membership card costs €3 and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Italian students with the IO STUDIO card can claim an AIG card free of charge.
Please note that we only accept group bookings of up to eight people via Hostelworld.com. If this term is not respected, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation/s without any notice. The deposit is non-refundable.
Payment is due upon arrival. Credit cards accepted.
We have a 48hr cancellation policy. Late cancellations and no-shows shall be charged the equivalent of the first night’s accommodation. Cancellations and changed are only accepted via email or fax. Phone cancellations/changes are not accepted.
Airport pick-up can be arranged upon request.
Fee for 1-4 persons with four suitcases: from €57 per car.
Fee for 5-8 persons with one suitcase per person: from €12 per person.
The stated price is minimum tariff; the fee varies depending on flight arrival time and airport (Fiumicino / Ciampino).
It must be requested least three days prior to arrival as we need to check availability. For further details, please inquire by email AFTER making reservation.
We are unable to send or fax letters for visa document applications to embassies and/or consulates.
