Surprisingly well equipped hostel considering it's a small town and most people just go to the mountain. Nice bar and restaurant area (although not heavily used), bus pick up to the mountain (for a fee), they'll even make you breakfast if you order it the night before. Quite a good location. Staff seemed super helpful at first (free train and bus bookings!) but ended up sort of flaking out on us so we had to come back early to sort bus tickets. Not ideal, but otherwise nice place.

Our room was amazing, it felt more like a hotel room than a hostel. Central location and great place to stay before we headed up Huang Shan. Make sure you take a trip to the Hot Springs at the foot of Huang Shan whilst you're there (about an hr away by bus).

The hostel was very cold. The heating unit didn't heat the whole room. Thankfully there was hot water all the time to warm ourselves up. The beds were a bit hard, could feel the springs poking through the mattresses. Asked the front desk to change our moldy shower curtain. They came up to the room, had a look, and decided it didn't need changing. The front desk is however efficient in booking travel plans, and the little cafe upstairs, once it warms up, is decent fun with pool, dvds etc.

We stayed for 2 nights. It was on the Old Street which is an excellant location. The staff are very friendly. The 1 day trip to Hongcun and Xidi was value for money. The room very spacious and the bathroom shower was fantastic.

Good hostel. The staff are smart and the hostel is very good. If possible, I will stay there next time. BUT, THERE IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING I HAVE TO RECOMMEND is the hostel offers a local bus bringing you to HuangShan sightseeing spot in the morning at 6:30 a.m., I joined the bus and cost me 18 RMB for one way trip, when I got in the bus, there is a conductor guiding us about HuangShan, then he asked us to make sure the return bus. This is a trick for his saying very few return bus.

It had been a really wonderful stay at the hostel and I appreciate the assistance of the staff who helped us arranged transport and accommodation at Mt huangshan. However, one problem is that there were people smoking in the common area and that was quite disturbing. The internet connection is always somewhat unstable in the beginning, which was frustrating.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were really helpful booking tickets and giving advice. I thought the day trip to Hongcun and Xidi was great value (It's only in Chinese, but the price is much cheaper than doing it alone and the lunch was an added bonus). The bathroom in my room was new and spotless, with a western toilet and really nice hot shower!! Thank you

Very nice hostel! Staff was very helpful when planning trips to the mountains. Even not shy to give you a towel when you forget your own.. Food in de bar is good, although we only had the Chinese dishes.. Waking up early to visit the mountain recommend and easy in this hostel. Breakfast can be pre ordered and is ready when you wake up! Good hostel! Worth a visit..

Great hostel offering good sized rooms, very helpful staff and central location. Kept bags securely for us during overnight stay on the mountain.

A really well located hostel with nice character to it. The dorm rooms had windows facing the interior patio, which meant being woken up by the extremely noisy cleaning ladies early in the morning. The only common area, bar, closes quite early.

Thank you very much for your comment which makes us know what we have to improve in the future. We are really sorry for the noise in the morning and we will pay much attention to tell the cleaners to be quite in the early morning.

The Dorms bed are so bad that I couldn't tell the difference between this mattress and a concrete plateau, besides that concrete can't obtain body heat off course :-( . The shouting staff (witch contains only one 'good' English speaking guy) at 6 O clock in the morning also doesn't benefit to a nice night rest..

We are sorry for the unhappy experience in our hostel those days. i think there must be some misunderstanding between us. you know we have already met thousands of guests and no one of them told us the mattress is as hard as concrete. i think maybe you are a little bit overtalkiing. and as for the shouting staff, are you sure the noise is from our staff? because you know we have the early bus leaves at 6:25 in the morning to the mountain and it pick us from the hostel. we will pay attention to tell the guest and the staff on duty to be quieter in the future. anyway, thank you for telling us those things and let us know we still have a lot to do in the future.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. I have never met such friendly staff and they are really organized. I went there during the National Holiday so I was especially surprised to have such good service (things are pretty crazy then!). I got a migraine the night before I had booked to go to Huang Shan and they changed all of my bookings for me with out question. The only thing is that some of their western food is not quite western, but it's passable. Be sure to stay here!

What we loved: the super-competent and helpful girls at the front desk, the very clean sheets and towels, the quietness of the room, the price, the location within Huangshan City and, of course, the super-tasty, and yet very affordable, restaurant across the street! What we liked less: the lack of shelves or closets in our otherwise very spacious room, the fact that, even though the door to the room felt very secure, the window was not at all.

I've stayed in 6 hostels so far in China and this is by far the best one. The staff go out of their way to help, and the bathrooms come with TP AND soap! I stayed in a 4 bed dorm with a shared ensuite and it was HUGE. The toilet is in a separate room from the shower! And the internet in the common area is the fastest I've encountered in China. The internet did not work in my room, but I spent most of my time around the old town (RIGHT OUTSIDE). The area is very nice with everything you need.

This hostel is very sweet and located on the "old-style" street of the town, which is probably the only pretty part of the town, though of course crammed with tourists. the reception staff are absolutely fantastic. speak great english, are very friendly and very helpful. bring your own guidebooks, though, unless you can read chinese (i forgot mine!!). there is no 'social' feel at the hostel, or wasn't when i was there, presumably because most people get up so early to climb the huang shan.
