Kunlun International Youth Hostel(Huangshan City)

While I believe it caters more to Chinese travelers, this hostel was very welcoming to westerners. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and it was a pleasure getting to chat with them. They helped me figure out my route for Huangshan and gave recommendations for the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the “no smoking” policy isn’t enforced at all (typical for China), but when I entered my dorm to find ash trays and cigarettes all over the floor, the staff were quick to find me another room.

The location is wrong, it’s about a 35 minute walk from the old town and not in the thick of it like the listing proclaim. If you check out trip.com, they have the correct location listed. You also have to make up your own bed, which is a pet peeve of mine, but the bed is also one of the most uncomfortable places I’ve slept in the last three months. It’s a piece of plywood covered with a foam pad. It’s a very warm shower though?
