In a great location to see most of the temples by walking there. There is not a very big common area but with so much to do in Kyoto all during the day there isn't much need for one. The beds were comfy and the wifi worked well while sitting in bed. The check-in does not open until 3pm so make sure that you are there after 3pm only cause you will not be able to leave your bags there until 3pm. Great place to stay.
Very good location made all interesting Kyoto spots easily accessible.
The staff were all really friendly and accommodating. The room itself was really clean. the people were reasonably friendly but all very complacent about thing like noise ( no real sound proofing so showers, hair dryers were pretty loud but no one minded). Not as social as I would have liked, but perhaps that was to do with the people more than the place. Really fantastic place!!
I only realized how good was this place until i was in my second day. Best point of this place is the location, simply amazing in the heart of Kyoto. Helpful staff, very nice and the place even has a nice bar. The only thing i REALLY HATED (guys PLEASE take this into consideration) was the directions you give to the hostel. SO BAD! SO TERRIBLY INCOMPLETE! I got so lost, and if it wasn't because on the GPS based map that had the hostel marked in, i wouldn't have been able to find it.
Great stay. Very welcoming staff. To be recommanded.
Washer/dryer facilities but cycle took more than 5 hours and clothes didn't come out smelling nice, nor were they dry unfortunately.
Every thing is excellent. Greatly location, near metro, my room had balcony overlooking river. No real good common area to meet others. Rooms nice and everything clean. Stay here!
Great hostel in the heart of geisha district. Great shops and cafes close by. Subway station outside their door. Staff very friendly and helpfull. saki bar downstairs. Facilities were excellent. Would stay here again.
This is really well located just a short walk from the train station with connections to Osaka and beyond. The staff were really friendly and although the hostel common area/kitchen is small with sparse facilities (kettle and fridge), the bar down stairs is a really good place to chat and drink with others at the hostel. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean too.
It is a really good Hostel, really clean, friendly and helpful staff and a good place to meet new people.
Decent hostel, not expensive at all, with a nice sake bar in the ground floor. It's just next to a metro station so it might be far away from Kyoto St but it is really easy to reach and just next to Gion district.
We had an awesome stay here! Awesome and cheap place: and the bar is so chill!
Nice hostel for sleeping.it special have private toilet in the room.
For what you pay this a really good deal. It's a place to sleep in a central location with clean facilities, helpful staff and decent sized rooms. The beds aren't great but, again, for what you're paying its more than acceptable. We didn't have to leave Kyoto until later in the evening and it was fine to leave our luggage in the bar down stairs, although take note they are closed between 12-3pm. Wifi is also good. Worth it if on a tight budget.

Such a great hostel! I had a great time! And you should try out the sake downstairs! It's delicious. And the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Jam Hostel Gion. The price is ridiculously low and the location is excellent, in the heart of Gion. The rooms are no-frills but very clean and secure. The staff speaks great English and is extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback to the place I saw was the lack of a kitchen (a refrigerator is available in the common room). Probably my favorite part of staying there was the craft sake bar downstairs, which is run by the same staff.

Great location, and it was nice to be in a 4 person female dorm. I hated the pillow, it was one of those bean pillows, and it would have been nice to have access to a microwave. There was a fridge and kettle, free tea and coffee, and a kitchen table with four chairs, but that was it. The staff were happy for you to hang out in the bar though, which was a nice social space.
Fantastic location, in the Gion district and convenient for shopping and dining. Private room with one double bed, room was extremely small and bathrooms were located separately down the hall. Room was very basic and sterile feeling, just a bed and coat hanger and that's pretty much it. Showers are located only on the 3rd floor, so if you are on the 2nd you need to walk up. No real room to store luggage when you check out, simply leave in the bar downstairs and hope for the best.
Super experience! Location is great and staff is awesome and very clean. Downstairs is great place to sit, enjoy, and learn about saki.
small hostel but with very good price, can find all you need basic things, if there's had a sink and mirror at 2nd floor will be even nicer. The location definitely awesome!! train station just in front of the hostel and less 5 mins to the main high street!
