The bathrooms were really dirty. There was no soap and no washing up liquid in the kitchen.
This hostel is ok if you're looking for somewhere as a convenient base to explore Auckland as it's reasonably located. However the bathrooms could have been cleaner, and although the rooms had locks it was quite easy for anyone to walk into the hostel from the street. The staff could be a bit abrupt but generally had a helpful attitude. Free wifi was good. The light short-circuited several times in my room but think this was a temporary problem. The 'free breakfast' was extremely limited.
What struck me most was that most of the people in this hostel lived in the hostel - it was more a young professional dorm than a hostel. It meant that the long-timers were less up for meeting new people or for going out. They were nice enough - but a bit cliquey. Wifi was good - unlimited - which is apparently rare in NZ hostels. Location is at the top of the hill, which means going up and down into town is a bit of a workout.
Not enough bathrooms! Also fire alarm went off at 3am! Alright value though! Nice staff, but big language barrier!!
Really good location and comfy beds. Lack of forks in the kitchen which was bizarre. And no one on reception a lot of the time. Free wifi which is good and rare in NZ. Really clean showers
Great hostel in a good area just up from town and opposite the city loop bus. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants around plus Asian supermarket a few doors down. Free wifi was pretty fast, free breakfast too. Small lockers and draws in rooms. I liked it here as is a smaller hostel so slightly more quiet which suited me. However nice balcony for eating and drinking as well. Would stay here again.
we were there for one night and it served our purposes well - just a quick overnight before heading out the next day.
The rooms were clean. Showers, kitchen and toilet not so much. The kitchen is really badly equipped. There is nothing to wipe or clean tables, there is almost no cutlery or plates. Staff was a bit moody.
Was a lovely hostel, great atmosphere, lots of long termers who were very welcoming and incredibly friendly! Charles on reception was super helpful and gave me info on so much stuff to do in the city! Thank you for an amazing time, I wish you all the best!

Only stayed one night but the owner was extremely friendly and helpful, helping me in many small ways and making a very nice atmosphere. He even traded me for my leftover currency at the end (I'm not sure he got a good deal so if he happens to read this -- thank you!). Besides that, the hostel had clean rooms, nice common area, strong wifi, and a good location near a lot of shops/restaurants & the airport bus.

Good little hostel in a nice little spot. Got a bed, locker and lock, boom! Some weird roomies, but hey, that's always hit or miss when living the hostel dream right? I probably won't go back as the atmosphere wasn't mind blowing. It failed to provide me with the social pampering I long for. Maybe it was upstairs where I never bothered to venture. But whatever, good spot.
The kitchen is too small. Only one person at a time can cook, so you waste a lot of time waiting for people to finish their cooking. Fridges and kitchen should be more clean, if you look the top of them, there's so many dust. The party atmosphere is great but after some hour it should end so that everyone can sleep: the walls are thin and you can hear everything.
Extremely friendly staff (treat you almost like family!), short walk down into the centre of Auckland Roof terrace makes a great place to meet people Free wi-fi is excellent, free breakfast of toast/pb/jam and free coffee and tea throughout the day Facilities basic but kept very clean and secure- Would absolutely stay here again!
It was a good hostel. They taking you into the room and show you where the facilities are. The room was good, clean, you have a personal locker which is good. They can keep your luggage, your mail, the wifi is working well. It was a good deal, they are only 10 minutes away from CBD. I recommend this place.
Arrived early in the morning from flight into Auckland, only to find that hostel was closed, we had to sit on the street for an hour until a cafe opened, then another hour until the hostel opened. When we booked the hostel online, we stated that we would be there at 6:00a.m. Not very nice to have to sit on the street for 2 hours after a 14 hour flight with out any warning from staff. The bathrooms had mould and mildew on the walls, also there was a club underneath, so don't forget your earplugs!
It'd be wonderful if we can watch the TV in the public area

I had a very good experience at K Road. It was as expected except the beds were extremely squeaky! If you move even slightly on your bed, it makes a hell of a noise! (And I'm a lightweight guy!) The Vietnamese housekeeping lady is very very sweet! I tend to sleep in a bit too late and she always woke me up with a smile on her face. :)

It was great for one night. The wifi is great, and the computers are a good asset too. The bathrooms and rooms are clean but the kitchen is a bit gross. Not much of a kitchen either. Staff are efficient and willing to answer questions about buses etc. My one thought about the rooms would be it would be good if they provided some storage for things, like shelves and hooks and things. Otherwise everything is on the ground.
