Super nice Hostel. Top location, clean, great facilities. They found a good way to organize this huge amount of people, eg. enough showers, big kitchen with dining area and living room. So there`s enough space for everybody in the shared facilities, though the 10 bed dorms seem to be very crowed. There`s just not enough space for your own luggage and the hallways and twin bedrooms have a bit of a smell. The staff is very nice and able to help with all kinds of questions who have. Worth the money

I've been traveling for over 3 months and this is the best hostel I have stayed at. It's mostly because the staff is so friendly and they understand what backpackers want. The other things that stand out are the cleanliness and privacy of the showers and toilets, wifi in the rooms, outlets and lights in each bed and privacy curtains, a/c (and some rooms have balconies). Two common areas to meet other people to go out with. This is a social place. Definitely stay here!

Great shower facilities, well thought out and super clean. Friendly staff, though advice was very general. The double bed was extremely uncomfortable meaning we were very tired and achy for our stay in Kyoto.

The dorms were very clean and comfy. The beds and pillows were memory foam! Washrooms and showers were also clean. The hostel itself was a bit of a pain to get to from Kyoto Station since the nearest subway station was a 10 minute walk away, but it was very close to Gion.

Great location but I had serious concerns about security considering they gave me a key to an occupied room. The rooms are really, really small. Staff is nice enough but not very knowledgeable. They did not know when the banks would open and could not recommend a place for breakfast other than Starbucks even though there is one practically right next door.

This is one of the most fun, best hostels in all of Japan! It's clean, comfortable, and well laid-out so that it's easy to meet with other travellers or take part in social activities. There is lounge/kitchen on the 4th floor where it's easy to meet other people, and the hostel is a short walk to many of the attractions in Kyoto. A++

I had a good stay at this hostel and the location is excellent. I was on a strict timescale so I was able to get around quite easily. Bathroom facilities were clean and were modern. Only negative thing was that taxi drivers cannot find this place for love nor money. Other than that, I'd definitely stay at this place again on my return to Kyoto.

Facility itself was great compared to the other hostels we visited. There were many showers and toilets and you never had to wait to get in to the shower or toilet. The rooms were clean and had a lot of space. the staff helped us to find something to do on a rainy day aswell. Onlything which wasn't working so well was the internet it was barely working it was going on and off all the time.

Why would you ever stay in a hotel if you could stay in Khaosan? Friendly service with great recommendations and a friendly atmosphere. They have all the information and amenities you could want, and if you are worried about getting lost or want to inquire about an attractions hours they are there for you with info and maps. No complaining and always helpful. I loved my stay at Khaosan.
