This is my second time staying with Khaosan Kyoto. I still like it very much because of it's cleanliness and good location!

Awesome location. Room was okay. Very nice common lounge. However rooms and hallway smelled very bad like stinky feet and even with window open and aircon running it didnt go away. Very unpleasant just beacause of the smell. (might be caused by old carpentry everywhere).

The staff are EXTREMELY helpful. We're so sorry we forgot the girl's name who helped us at the front desk, but she went to extreme lengths to help us find our way to our next accommodation. The facilities were great, but our actual room looked a little run down. The hostel is located in a perfect walking location to see the main downtown sights.

There were no windows in the room, which was not so cool. All the rest was amazing. Really clean, as you can expect from a Khaosan hostel. Cool kitchen, great bar. Cool activities also! There was a language shower and an origami class we went too, which was an amazing experience. Nearby subway station, like a 1 minute walk.

Very large place with a lot of guest. The common room could get busy. Oragumi was fun and most of the staff was great.

Overall my least favorite hostel I've stayed at in Japan over the years.

Had an awesome stay at Khaosan Kyoto. Here are the pros and cons Pros 1. Awesome location (shiju dori is at the center of activity. Major temples are less than 30 mins walking) 2. Very courteous staff - helpful and proactive support 3. Spacious lounge 4. Fully functional kitchen - if you are on a tight budget, just get frozen food from convenience stores and enjoy your meal 5. Very clean bathrooms Cons: 1. The private room could be a little more airy - felt a bit of stuffiness.

This place smelled heavily of mold...like really bad. My wife was eaten alive by fleas in her bed. That was DISGUSTING. Would not recommend for couples...might be perfect for backpacker traveler.

Fine hostel; ceilings were oddly low in the hallways and the elevator was a bit sketchy but no major problems. The location isn't the greatest but there is easy access to transportation nearby.

Good location, you can walk to gion and main street in 5 min, room was small but it is worth it because of location. Staff was really helpfull.

Large, friendly hostel with knowledgeable, friendly staff and many facilities. Wonderfully located for historic Gion district. Has a small bar in a separate building, good for meeting fellow travellers.

stayed for 4 days in total. Very convenient location. Helpful staff to deliver nice advices. but got some problem abt the socket location, my dormmate also got this problem, and make noises at midnight. i think hostel hv responsibility to this seems tiny problem. And only two set of washing & drying machine, always full at night. But still value for money no doubt, i'll stay again if i visit Kyoto again.

Bad wifi connection in the room, time open the laundry is too late and closing hour laundry is too early.

Great hostel! The location is fantastic, and the staff are great. Nice kitchen and lounge area. Lots of tourist information. Beds with curtains and big lockers for your stuff. The only complaint I had is that my room had a strange smell, though not very strong. The other rooms may be fine though. Overall this is definitely a great place to stay in Kyoto!

Good location, near city center, far from kioto station (but well conected). Very small rooms.

Good hostel, but rather impersonal. Private rooms are kinda small are "basic", but I guess it was OK for the price. Very good location, in the center of Kyoto.
