Our group from Australia, Singapore and Malaysia were very impressed with Khaosan Kyoto - very, very helpful staff, very good kitchen facilities, showers and toilet (love the water spray!); and location, right in the CBD! Recommend putting some (disposable) paper towels in the kitchen for better hygiene (the drying cloth towel would have been used many times and not clean), and also some drying racks will help. Will come again, will strongly recommend to our friends and relatives.

Quite simply the best experience I could have had. The common room is huge and offers many opportunities to meet new people. The staff is amazing and the best I saw during my trip. The location is right in the centre but on a small street so it isnt very loud at all. Loved it!

The place was very well situated, very close to Gion and the main subway and train lines. The room was very clean, also were the showers and bathrooms. The hostel was full of very funny people, very friendly atmosphere. The staff was very helpfull and welcoming. I really liked the experience there.

It's a nice place to stay, in the center of Kyoto's popular places, very easy to reach tourist spots, most of them are only in a walk distance. The room is clean, convenient, staff are all friendly and helpful, and the kitchen/living room is comfy. The neighborhood is not noisy. I'd like to stay there again if I go back to Kyoto.

The best hostel i have stayed at in my month of travelling around japan. It is a great place to meet people, has a good kitchen and free tea and coffee. You could easily just hang out in the hostel and have fun if kyoto wasnt so awesome

Having lived in Japan for two years and travelled to many places, this is surely the greates hostel in which I have stayed. It is just perfect for foreigners, they offer any kind of help in English (I was surprised to see that they even have the information in English of how to use the japanese toilet!), and you can find a guide of the city in your room. I stayed in a private room and it was very comfortable. I'd really recommend it!

Very clean and tidy hostel. Excellent location and very helpful staff. Not a party atmosphere but still able to meet like minded travellers. Rooms are tiny but your only in them to sleep anyway. Would deffinately stay there again.

I had a great time at Khaosan, and met a lot of fun, friendly people. The location was a bit of a walk from the nearest train station but was very close to convenience stores and restaurants. The staff were extremely friendly and the common area was one of the best I've experienced, in terms of fun and activity. Really recommended.

Very friendly and helpful stuff! And great there is free dinner! That was so delicious due to a French guy cooking every evening. Arigato!

Probably the nicest hostel I've visited. It's very clean, and you feel very safe, although I was generally expecting this kind of atmosphere when arriving in Japan. I'm glad my expectations were met. The location is great as long as you don't mind a bit of a walk and subway ride to the train station. It's near an area where there is a lot to do. The only downside I can possibly see is that the place almost felt too nice at times, slightly sterile, but that's hardly a complaint.

Very unique hostel. A cross between a hostel and hotel; taking the best of both to create a very comfortable environment. Really enjoyed the common area on the fourth floor as well as the events the hostel hosted there throughout the week. Very clean facilities, a friendly and knowledgable staff, and affordable prices made this a wonderful place to return to after a day of exploring Kyoto. Stay here!!!!!

It was a great stay at Khaosan Kyoto! Met great people great location! Very close to subway station, around hostel area call Gion which is walking distance to Gion, Kiyomizu Temple and more to see. And from that location you can take either bus or train to most of the tourist attraction easily. It's one of the biggest hostel in Kyoto.

Really excellent hostel located only two stops from Kyoto station on the metro. All of the main attractions are easily walkable or accessible by bus and its near some great restaurants and bars. Bathrooms and kitchen are clean and everyone is really friendly. Best hostel we've ever stayed in. Thanks!
