Great location, but most of the showers in the building were out of order which was very inconvenient.

Not that of a atmosphere, smelly room, a bit dirty, great location, staff is average friendly.

Nice little hostel, basic but clean, very close to Kyoto's many sights.

Very nice hostel. Beds a comfortable, each one has a curtain for privacy. There is a free walking tour that meets at the hostel (possibly seasonal).

The room was definitely one of the smallest but everything else was fine! Located in busy Kawaramachi and 20 min walk to Gion-Shijo/Gion area, tonnes of food and shopping within walking distance. Buses available to go to Arashiyama, Kinkakuji and other major tourist attractions. Showers and toilets are clean. Huge common area with a decent kitchen. Family Mart and 7-11 are right down the road!

the location is really good, very convenient! Staffs could speak English, so no worry! I will definitely come back while visiting Kyoto.

Excellent facilities for the price! It might be nice to have an air freshener or fan of some sort in the private rooms. The air gets fairly stale in there.

Great location and facilities. The common room and kitchen area are awesome. It's more of a backpackers place, not your usual smaller guesthouse, but staff is helpful and friendly. Guests are of all ages and nationalities. Bar open in the evenings. The lockers in the dorm rooms are super useful.

I stayed at almost all the rooms this time during the busy cherry blossom season, including 10-bed mixed dorm, 6b female dorm and 2b private room. Well-managed Khaosan has all the bells and whistles of a good hostel, at an exceptional price for Kyoto and amazing staff. The shortcomings are minor considering all of the above: 2b private room is very tight, and carpet smells a little musty.

Had a fantastic time staying here, the staff were friendly and there were lots of handy flyers with information about the city and how to get around in the reception. The kitchen was also very handy and there was a supermarket down the street to get supplies :)
