Considered about take buses as the main trip facility ,Kawaramachi and Kyoto-eki are two of the most convenience place in Kyoto. However, Kawarakachi is a better place to stay at night, since Teramachi ,department store and Gion are all no far away from there. So I believe the location of Khaosan Kyoto Guest House is one of the best one in Kyoto. Beside, I have noting to complain about this place.

This place had everything, had a free caligraphy class on when I was there and met some fun people. All ages staying there too, massive lounge are and easy enough to get around to everywhere. Located just down from Goin where we spotted a load of Geisha's. Staff here very helpful and friendly

This hostel was great! The location is wonderful, within walking distance of a lot of sightseeing spots and eateries! Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit small (had a double private), and walls were thin, but they were clean. The lounge area is the best! Met so many interesting travelers! Only note: if you do laundry, be prepared to spend 2+ hours drying it. The dryer is pretty awful.

Great hostel. Good location, good staff. There was a rat in the common area, but he only made an appearance one early morning. Overall the place was quite clean. Spacious hostel. Well worth the price.

The hostel staff were amazing and had so much information and advice as to sightseeing. The Hostel arranged several activities such as guided tours which were free and amzingly good. There was a great social space which meant meeting new people was easy.

Staff were friendly and rooms were clean. The common room/kitchen area was very well kept with lots of pans, stove, utensils to do your own cooking. There is also a lounge area for internet access and socialising. The wifi connection was not very reliable and signal was weak in the dorm rooms.

great hostel. clean. But for some reason the community kitchen is always pack with hungry backpackers. So its kind of hard to make anything there. All and all, its a great place to stay.

One of the best hostels I have stayed in! The staff are so helpful and there is a lot of information about the surrounding sights that are not too far away.

This is my second time staying at Khaosan Kyoto and it was wonderful this time around too. The staff was very helpful., the cleanliness of the facilities was perfect and the amount facilities offered for the price was unbeatable. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I go to Kyoto. Please keep up the good work!!

I didn't expected there would be a double deck bed in a single private room.

Drunk, loud, obnoxious white people filled this hostel. It was mostly the guys who were this way, but the women were encouraging them. It felt like an international frat house. Even during "quiet hours", people were throwing themselves onto the floor of the common room and yelling at each other. Unfortunately, I had already paid for three nights by the time I found this out. Fortunately, there were much better places in Kyoto that I was able to stay at later.

This hostel is excellent. Everything felt new & clean. The wet tea towels in the kitchen kind of grossed me out though – maybe you could have quick-drying towels that hang up somewhere. Also, the laundry is outside on a balcony, so it was freezing & also raining on me when I was trying to do washing. Don’t count on getting washing done here – I was using the dryers for 3 hours & they were still not drying our clothes. When one load takes 3 hours it's difficult for everyone to get a turn!
